Today, unfortunately, I witnessed something pretty horrible.
At a meeting at my workplace. My boss was rambling, quite literary about how everyone was not doing their jobs well and how hurricane Sandy was not an excuse for poor communication between coworkers and clients.
Apparently, he did not quite understand that dead phones, no power, no gas - makes it impossible to continue "servicing" our clients.
And so, he goes on saying how everyone did not make a huge effort to keep things going. Despite the fact that halfway through the hurricane we had met up where some of us suffered extremely long (3hr) trips, hours of waiting in line for gas, and driving in dangerous conditions.
So one coworker spoke up saying that actually we did put in a big effort to meet up and mentioned that some of the coworkers had gone through great effort to be at this meeting.
My boss explodes.
"How dare you say that! I don't consider that a lot at all!....." He rambles on some more at this poor coworker about how wrong and horrible he is. The coworker profusely apologized over and over and my boss either did not hear or care, he just kept going on and on.
In retrospect, I should have stood up for my coworker. He was right after all. However, I think that I was just so shocked at the tone of voice from my boss, the words he spewed from his filthy mouth that I was just frozen.
Ironically enough, not more than a few minutes ago my boss was going on about how he is a good CEO. Pffft, yeah right. Good compared to the more insane CEO's, sure. But "good"? Not a chance.
I shudder to think what this poor mans punishment will be for publicly embarrassing my coworker so horribly.
